Before delving deeper into what homemade yeast infection remedies are, we need to define what causes yeast infection. Yeast infection is, as you may know by now if you are reading this article, caused by a fungus called Candida Albicans. Infection occurs when there is an acidity change in the vaginal region. Those changes can occur every month during menstruation times.
Candida albicans is a yeast-like fungus that naturally resides in everybody. It is relatively harmless because your body’s good bacteria keeps it under control. However, if the conditions are right, it can overgrow into an infection.
Why the use of coconut oils on yeast infection? Coconut oil contains a saturated fatty acid called ‘caprylic acid’ which is a natural anti-fungal agent, ideal for fighting the Candida fungi. And, caprylic acid is not water-soluble, so it is better able to penetrate the mucous membranes in which the yeast fungi are deeply embedded.
Start by getting a dime-sized amount of coconut oil for yeast infection and warming it gently in the microwave. Be sure that it isn’t too hot so that you don’t burn your scalp! Just apply it over the affected area. Do this daily until the symptoms disappear. For vaginal candida, you can apply the oil to a tampon and leave in overnight. Once again, repeat daily until the symptoms abate. You could also massage pure coconut oil for yeast infection into wet skin after your shower or bath. I did this twice daily and it kept my skin in tip top condition, as well as leaving it with a healthy radiant glow!
Although working with honey can be a sticky and messy way to fight a vaginal yeast infection, it is also one of the most effective symptom relievers. One way to use the honey is fill a cup about halfway full of honey. Go into the bathroom and sit on the toilet. Then pour the honey on the affected areas. Let the honey sit there for about half an hour.
You may also lubricate a tampon with KY Jelly and then add a few drops of pure Tea Tree Oil and insert at night. Repeat this for 3-4 days. This is a very good natural remedy for yeast infections.
One of the major causes of yeast overgrowth is taking a lot of antibiotics. The reason is quite simple: antibiotics kill the good bacteria as well as the bad. So talk with your doctor if you can stop taking antibiotics if you are right now having yeast infection.
